cheapest place to live in california

Hey guys!. In this post, I’ll be discussing a list of Top 10 Cheapest Places to Live in California. These places are the best you can count in the city. So let’s get started.

10. Oakdale

Oakdale is one of the lowest populated places in California. It is home to nearly 24.000 people, making it a small and peaceful city. The city proclaims that it is the Cowboy Capital of the World. Yes, the city is small but has many things to hook the attention of the tourists. The famous things here include the cowboy museum, rafting, and riding. You can enjoy boating and water sports as well, thanks to the Woodward Reservoir. When looking at the home prices, the median home cost here is somewhere around $385,200. It is indeed affordable when you compare it with other cities in the state. The place also ranks as one of the best cities for families. Moreover, the temperature here is not too cold, allowing you to enjoy healthy outdoor activities throughout the year.

9. Chico

Chico is one of the fastest-growing cities in California, offering its residents the best in terms of everything. The city is known as a college town because of Chico State University. It is perhaps the very first college in the state of California. However, the place has been gaining importance because of its affordable housing costs. Chico is home to over 196,800. When reading about its demographics, I noticed that the population of Chico is decreasing dramatically. Anyways, the median home cost in Chico is around $365,000, which is pretty affordable. The city has almost everything for you. But make sure to read about why the population is decreasing before you decide to live here.

8. Clovis

Clovis also ranks as one of the best cities in terms of agriculture. It is also known as the Gateway to the Sierra because it touches the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The people living in Clovis have easy access to Yosemite National Park and San Jose. When it comes to the cost of living, the median home cost here is around $344,7000. Clovis has a population of over 120,100 people. It offers many outdoor activities like cycling, jogging, and hiking. People, especially families, prefer living in Clovis because of its beautiful parks, theaters, and museums. If you are looking for a place like it, think no more and book a flight to Clovis.

7. Perris

Perris is indeed not a famous place for tourist attraction. However, the city is yet an affordable choice for those looking to live in California without spending much money. In Perris, the median cost of a home is around $332,100. If you love shopping every weekend, Perris will let you buy the best accessories and essentials for yourself. Perris is home to over 80,000 people, which is not a big deal. When looking at its geographical location, the city stands between San Diego and Los Angeles. It is a growing city but lets you access beautiful deserts, beaches, and mountains in a short drive of one or two hours. The city is also open to some business opportunities, so it is again a plus point.

6. Sacramento

Who could have thought that the capital of the state could be an affordable place to live? For those who don’t know, Sacramento is the capital of California but has a median home cost of only around $327,300. It is pretty affordable for a person with an average income. 5. Fort Irwin

Fort Irwin stands on this list because of its affordable median home cost of around $310,000. It is actually an army base that stands in a beautiful area of San Bernardino County. Fort Irwin also gives you access to some beautiful places such as the Mojave Desert and the Calico Mountains. It is perhaps the type of area that I would love to live in. Fort Irwin is a small area with a population of less than 9,900. It could be a perfect choice for people who are fed up with living in crowded cities full of noise and pollution. The place also has many attractive places for tourists. The top names are the Death Valley National Park, Sequoia National Forest, and more. Long story short, Fort Irwin is a perfect place for individuals and families.

4. Fresno

At the number four spot, I have Fresno as the most affordable place to live in California. With a median home cost of around $247,600, the place could be a perfect place to live a balanced life. The city is known for its agricultural sector, which opens countless job opportunities in the fields of agriculture. But don’t think that it will make you feel as if you are living in a village. The city is home to over 537,100 people. In Fresno, you will never run out of doing physical activities. The place is rich in beautiful parks with many things to attract your attention. Fresno is known for having three national parks and some famous national forests. However, summers here are not friendly at all. The temperature can shoot up to 100 degrees, unbelievable!

3. San Diego

Most of you might know San Diego as one of the most expensive cities in California. Well, that is right. Then why have I put it on my list of the cheapest places? I am aware of the fact that the median home cost in San Diego is around $645,300. But not every area of the city has the same housing costs. There are many places in San Diego where you can find a house at an affordable price. All you need is great bargaining skills. San Diego is home to over 1,427,700 people, which is indeed a crowded city. You can consider living in Barrio Logan to enjoy the beautiful San Diego without facing expensive living costs.

2. Bakersfield

Bakersfield is a land of over 389,000 people. If you are looking for an urban city at an affordable cost of living, it is a perfect choice for you. The city stands in the central valley of California, so you can expect to see some unexpected wonders from Bakersfield. In the past, it was only known for agriculture and oil. However, it has now become a hub for culture and arts. The median home cost in the city is only around $242,800, which is almost nothing in 2021. The city has many sources of attraction like restaurants, museums, and antique shops. Also, you can drive your way to visit some beautiful-looking areas in the state. So, why would someone not decide to live in Bakersfield?

1. Clear Lake

Here is the champion of my list, the Clear Lake. It is the cheapest place to live in California as its median home cost is only around $151,300. You might think I am not in my senses, but I have brought these stats to you after doing complete research. The city lies at the shores of Clear Lake, which is the largest freshwater lake in California. Clear Lake is home to over 15,000 people. Apart from the beautiful lake view, you can spend your time in the Clear Lake State Park to enjoy some fresh air. There are also many opportunities available for swimming or kayaking. You can also try out tasty wines and quality shopping in the city. However, I am not sure if they give discounts on branded products.
